BLENDED EDUCATION COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN AFRICA (BECSA) offers TEACHER EDUCATION as its main program alongside the polytechnic side that offers short courses. BECSA had its first intake in May 2019 for Diploma in Education under the University Of Zimbabwe (UZ) and under the mentorship of Joshua Mqabuko for a year from the date of opening our doors for business which was May 1st 2019 to April 30 2020. BECSA offers a three year diploma in primary teacher education on a 3-3-3 model. The student teachers cover their first year that is 3 terms doing theory on campus; the second year on practicum in the field which is “Teaching Practice” and the final year back on campus. The teacher education course has two programs: the junior school (GENERAL) and early childhood development (ECD) teacher education program. In order to do either of these programs one has to have 5O’levels including English and Mathematics which are major requirements , Registration is done at the BECSA reception where one is required to bring in certified copies of their Birth certificate ,Academic certificates and National ID. In addition BECSA also offers optionally French lessons to student teachers. BECSA also ensures that teachers are not only equipped with computer literacy skills but competency skills. The focus being not to prepare our teachers today’s educational challenges only but tomorrow’s challenges. Our mission is to groom and educate Teachers that are the future.
